A Cena on the Hill… Italian Food Store in Richmond
Before I had to stop work I cooked in a kitchen in Richmond called A CENA. When there we always spoke about wanting to open a food store to accompany the restaurant and it looks like they have finally got it together and opened. Nick my old head chef is one of the most amazing women I have ever met and by far the best chef. Alongside her is Paul Hughes, a long-time family friend and ex-colleague of Nick, Tim and Camilla’s who has had a distinguished career at restaurants such as Langan’s Brasserie and St John’s and for the last eight years has been Head Chef at the famous Ginger Pig in Marylebone. Tim and Camilla who own the restaurant were amazing too and I really miss them all. I want to wish them all buona fortuna with the new shop and if you are ever in Richmond walk up the hill and visit, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
A CENA on the hill…….
What defines Italian? Firstly family, then food and warmth of spirit. We have held this belief long before opening the A Cena doors to the residents of Richmond in 2001. Now, continuing the qualities we believe in, we are expanding in a small way with our food store. The chef will be Paul Hughes, a long-time family friend and ex-colleague, who has had a distinguished career at restaurants such as Langan’s Brasserie and St John’s and for the last eight years has been Head Chef at the famous Ginger Pig in Marylebone. His food will be approachable and hearty and the welcome will be warm. We will be offering roasts and chickens from our spit. Fresh pasta and ravioli from our kitchen. Breads, pastries and savouries produced on the premises, along with interesting products gathered from Italy and the Mediterranean. Not forgetting wines, a smattering of cook books and utensils. Some evenings we will hold tastings and cookery classes – a chance to see how it’s done, check how it tastes and then learn how to do it. We look forward to welcoming you.
