Posted in Uncategorized by lagazzettadellabici on February 8, 2010

Yesterday after the sad death of Franco Ballerini my good friend Bill Cordero emailed me and sent these amazing photographs he took of Franco winning the Grand Prix des Ameriques in 1990. Franco can be seen in 2 of these 9 photographs in the Del Tongo kit. Thanks again Bill your photos and comments are always welcome on La Gazzetta Della Bici.

The captions for each photograph read as follows: Greg Lemond showed up for a paycheck, Dag Erik Pedersen TVM, Eddy Merckx, The field hammers up Mont Royal in the rain it rained the entire race 5+ hours, Sean Kelly chases the break, Franco Ballerini (Del Tongo), Claudio Chiapucci (hidden), World Champion Rudy Dhaenens (PDM), and Tommy Moreels (Lotto) on the winning break, Montreal was named after the Mont Royal, Claudio Chiapucci dropped, Eventual winner Franco Ballerini, and Sammy Moreels (3rd).
