Secrets of the PRO Peleton… ENERGY BOMB!

Posted in Uncategorized by lagazzettadellabici on April 7, 2010

At the end of last month I wrote about Bliss Bars saying how great they were as cycling food because of their super healthy ingredients and small size. Today I went back to my favourite hippy shop in Richmond to buy some more and to my horror they had sold out. However my favourite hippy in the hippy shop who also happens to be a cyclists (but then all hippys are) said, “You don’t want those, you want these,” and brought out the ENERGY BOMB you see below. Available from these Energy Bombs are much nicer than the bliss bars in that they are more like chocolate brownies and don’t have the Herby smell that the Bliss Bars have. They are the same small size which makes them perfect again for cycling and are just as dense and filling. However unlike the Bliss Bars these seem to have been made especially with sports in mind and are best eaten 30 minutes before any sporting activity. They contain guarana which naturally contains caffeine along with brown rice syrup, dates, sunflower seeds, brown rice powder, cacao, ginseng and green tea extract. So not only are they good for the body they are good for the mind too as green tea is great for mental health. Like the Bliss Bars they are vegetarian and vegan, dairy free and gluten free, non GM and soya free too. Each 50g bar contains 212kcal, 3.0g protein and 31.8g carbohydrates. Funnily they say on the packet that they are made by Ben, Nick and Simon so well done boys these have now replaced my all time favorite Bliss Bars as my all time favourite energy bar for cycling.
