Tsukino’s Race Report: JCRC Stage 3-Gunma CSC.
News from Japan from my friend James and his daughter Tsukino…
A very nervous race day for Tsukino who had to wait until 2:30pm when the “Primary School category” started. The course was 3 laps of a 1km course on the actual same route that I had raced earlier that day. The loop consisted of two climbs the final being to the finishing line.
The organisers allowed the coaches, parents and team mates to hold the bike in place before the start; this was great as it guaranteed that Tsukino wouldn’t have to worry about clipping on when the starts gun went off.
The final lap saw her hot on the back wheel of her main contender as they reached the crux of the climb looping through the finishing zone and then back down the other side. She had dropped back about 3 bikes length on the downhill and we had to wait for her to reappear on the final straight before knowing if she had caught 3rd.
An outstanding performance by Tsukino coming 3rd overall and 1st in the Girls Primary School Category. Her next race in on the June 19th and 20th in the Tour Du Japon on Miyagake Jima.
