Veloiste and the Col d’Izoard

Posted in Uncategorized by lagazzettadellabici on June 23, 2010

Team Captain Mark of Veloiste is running one of his cycling trips at the moment and has sent in this report and pictures from the Col d’Izoard.

Hi Simon – hope you’re well.

As you know I’m in the mountains. Attached are a few pictures from today’s ride.

We started in Briancon, went straight up and over the Col d’Izoard first thing and then wound our way down to Digne-les-Bains. 173km and 2,500m of climbing, so in the first three days of the trip we’ve covered 490km and climbed about 7,000m I think.

Pics attached show me outside the hotel in Briancon waiting to leave, at the top of the Col d’Izoard, the Coppi and Bobet monument on the way down and then, unfortunately, the aftermath of a small crash (slow and uphill) where I ripped the jersey’s shoulder!.

i’m posting brief details of each day’s ride on the Les Veloiste Gentils blog here:http://lesveloistesgentils.wordpress.com.
